Samsung Galaxy On7 Prime Full Phone Specifications & Honest Opinions

Samsung has released another budget-oriented smartphone Galaxy On7 Prime for the Indian Market. It will be on sale soon and will be exclusively sold on Amazon India. But don’t get excited so soon. It is not an entirely new smartphone out there. It is essentially a reboot of their 2 Year Old Galaxy J7 Prime and is more or less an old wine in a new bottle.

Galaxy On7 Prime is on sale on Amazon.in as an Amazon Exclusive Device.

Galaxy J7 Prime was launched in September 2016 and is still being sold on various platforms, including Amazon and Flipkart. We know the specs already.

But is Galaxy On7 Prime an exact copy of the Galaxy J7 Prime? Why did they change the name then?

Well, they are not exact, there is a minor but significant difference between the Galaxy J7 Prime and the Galaxy On7 Prime. Its regarding the front camera.

The front camera of Galaxy J7 Prime is 8MP with f/1.9 aperture. The rear camera is 13MP with f/1.9 aperture.

In Galaxy On7 Prime, the rear camera has remained the same, but the front camera has been increased to 13MP from 8MP. The aperture is still the same f/1.9.

But that’s all which got a makeover. Everything else remains the same.

So, this is, in short, the entire highlights of the Galaxy On7 Prime 2018.

Other SmartphonPhones Launched Recently in 2018:

Galaxy On7 Prime Features:

Well, as this is a rebooted phone, most probably you already know the details. So, let me just quickly list out the important ones and you check the rest from the full specifications given below.

Galaxy On7 Prime is launching in 2018 without a 18:9 aspect ratio display. It is just a 5.5inch phone with glass and aluminum body. The fingerprint sensor is located just below the display.

Underneath, the Galaxy On7 Prime is powered by Exynos 7870 Octa Core Processor with 1.6 GHz Cortex-A53 CPU and Mali T830 GPU. For a budget-oriented smartphone, you cannot expect anything better from Samsung.

But it will be supported by a 4GB Ram and 64GB internal storage so you can adjust with it.

Speaking of storage, the phone has got a Dedicated Micro SD Card slot that supports cards up to 256 GB. You can use it as your media hub 🙂

The rear camera and the front camera are both 13MP with f/1.9 aperture. The front camera has been upgraded from 8MP. This should be able to capture good photos, but you won’t be able to take portrait mode pics due to the lack of dual camera setup.

The phone has got a 3300mah battery which will be sufficient to power the phone through the day.

4G VoLTE is supported too.

The phone has got Samsung Mall and Samsung Pay Mini support.

Samsung Mall allows you to take pics of any item and look for the item online. It uses special recognition technologies to identify the product and suggest similar items.

Samsung Pay Mini is Samsung’s very own payment module where you can store your Bank Cards and safely transact with those cards while you shop.

Galaxy On7 Prime Honest Opinions:

7.4 Total Score
Only Recommended for Budget Samsung Fans

Going by the Specs the phone is by no means a bad phone, but I have few things to say. Firstly the processor is of 2016 and this phone has got good sales for 1 long year. There's no point of relaunching it again in 2018 and carry that on for another year. But that does not mean the phone is unusable. If you are a Samsung fan and need a budget smartphone then this is for you. Btw, The price of the phone isn't revealed so we can't say whether it is a value for money device yet.

Galaxy On7 Prime Alternatives:

The first alternative smartphone I will suggest for you is the Honor 9 Lite. It is a budget smartphone from Huawei and yet to launch. It will be available on Flipkart. It has got an 18:9 aspect ratio display and a good processor. It has also got Dual Front and Dual Rear Cameras.
The next alternative smartphone I will suggest will be definitely Redmi Note 4. In budget price you are getting SD 625 processor and 4100 mah battery which is a killer combination and helps you to get a long battery life. Go for it if you want a better value for money device.
The other alternative smartphone for you will be the Moto G5 Plus or Moto G5S Plus, depending on your budget and need. Both of them have got the same Snapdragon 625 Processor, but the camera is particularly good in these smartphones and will help you take good shots. You also get stock android. Choose G5 Plus for single camera and G5S Plus for Dual Camera (for portrait shots).

So, that’s all about the Samsung’s latest reboot Galaxy On7 Prime. I, personally am not a Samsung fan, but I really like their flagship designs. They look gorgeous. I would have loved if they at least kept an 18:9 display for this device when they are launching it in 2018. Anyways, this isn’t the last smartphone for them and I hope more amazing devices will keep coming from their end.
