The Lenovo K8 Note is the latest addition to the Lenovo K series. The first sale starts 18th August 2017. There are 2 variants and the pricing starts from Rs12999 onwards.
Lenovo has been operating over years and releasing mobiles under the brand Lenovo and Motorola almost every month. They have partnered with both Qualcomm and MediaTek to ship their phones with processors from both the companies. Their primary focus in Indian smartphone market is to deliver both low-end and high-end smartphones in different price segments.
The Lenovo K series is a low to mid-end smartphone, with a price range of around 10-15k. They are aimed at targeting users who cannot afford costly smartphones and yet wants most of the best features under the hood.
This year’s K8 is no exception. Let’s check out what it has to offer.
Lenovo K8 Note Features:
The Lenovo K8 Note is a 5.5 inch smartphone with a 2.5D Full HD Display (1080 x 1920 p). The display is protected by Corning Gorilla Glass 3 which will save you from accidental phone drops. It weighs 180g.
The mobile is unibody metallic and has curved edges to give you a premium feeling when you touch it or pick it up. It comes with two color variants: Venom Black and Fine Gold. Well, the names differ, but ultimately they are all the same. Its just black and golden. 🙂
There is a fingerprint sensor on the back.
Coming to the camera, it supports a Dual Rear Camera (13+5)MP that claims to give you the Depth of Field Effect provided by DSLRs. Well, it remains to be seen. This makes the device one of the most powerful entry level smartphones supports a dual camera.
The front selfie camera is a 13MP shooter. It also supports flash, so you don’t have to worry about taking bright selfies.
On the battery segment, it supports a massive 4000mah battery, something that is needed by smartphone users nowadays to run their mobiles throughout the day. These days most of the entry level smartphones are providing 4000mah battery, which is a good thing indeed.
It also supports Turbo Charging, which will full charge your device under 1.5 hours. This is icing on the cake 🙂
Coming to the processor, it is powered by Mediatek Helio x23. It is a deca-core processor. Sorry, no snapdragon on this device.
It comes with two Storage and Ram Variants, the 3GB+32GB variant costs Rs12999 and the 4GB+64GB costs Rs13999. The phone will be on sale from 18th August onwards.
The phone supports dual nano sim with VoLTE support on both. There is also a dedicated slot for an external SD Card support with up to 128 GB.
Under this hardware, it runs on Android 7.1.1 Nougat with the Google Assistant support.
One interesting thing about this device is a dedicated Music Play hardware button, that is initially designed to launch music app, but you can program it to launch any app of your choice. This is indeed a good thing, as I would personally prefer to launch camera app with it, rather than music. Good to see that Lenovo is actually thinking about our preferences.
Like other models, this one also supports the Theatremax VR. So, you can control it in VR mode. Dolby Atmos is also supported, delivering you the best music output quality.
Many of you may ask, whether it supports a Headphone Jack or not. Yes, it does.
So, that’s all about this device.

Lenovo K8 First Impressions:
Well, if I have to say anything critical about this device, apart from the spec sheet, that will be its processor. Lenovo chose to stick with Mediatek this time with the LenovoK8. This alone can be a major deciding factor for you whether you want to buy it.
Personally, I would have liked if they chose Snapdragon instead. Xiaomi does a great job in sticking with Snapdragon processor in all their devices. Anyways, here’s my view regarding this device.
A dual rear camera with f1.7 aperture and 4000mah battery is alone a good combination for a smartphone. Instead of snapdragon, we have a deca core Mediatek processor. But do we need so many cores? I don't think so! More cores does not mean better performance. A dedicated hardware button is present to launch any app of your choice, something useful in times of need. Fast charging support is enabled. One good thing is there is a dedicated SD Card slot apart from the Dual Nano Sim Slots. So, you don't need to compromise with Hybrid Sim Slots. 🙂 Overall a good buy in 13999 if you ignore the processor aspect. Indeed, a snapdragon processor would have given it more power.
