The most popular Android Rom on Computer, Remix OS has released on 12th January 2016 as a total Operating System for PC and is far better than the old Android Emulators like Bluestacks.
Though it was specified that we can download any android app inside Remix OS via Android Market Support, unfortunately, it does not come with a pre-loaded Google Play Store and Google Play Services.
You need to sideload Google Play Store and Google Play Services inside the Remix OS to get access to the key to download thousands of Apps and Games officially from Google Play.
Don’t worry, it is neither hard nor long. I assure you it won’t take more than 10 minutes to do it easily if you follow the steps accurately.
Previously, I explained How to Install Remix OS and How to Dual Boot Remix OS with Windows safely. I included steps for both UEFI and legacy devices. You should be able to install and run it properly if you go through the tutorials.
Android Geeks, you can now Root your Remix OS too from here.
GOOD NEWS: Remix OS v2.0 is released on 2nd February 2016 and now it supports 32 bit devices too. Download Remix OS v2.0 from here.
Anyways, let’s skip those steps and start with How to Install Google Play Services and Google Play Store on your Remix OS.
Install Google Play Store on Remix OS:
So, hope you have already downloaded it and installed it on your computer.
This step requires that you are on Remix OS (and NOT ON WINDOWS). So, make sure you boot to Remix OS first before going through this step.
To install Google Play, we need to allow sideloading of non-market Android apps from Settings.
Double Click Settings to load the settings dialog box. Click on Security.
The security settings options will load. Swipe Right on the Unknown Sources Button. It will throw a warning. Click on OK.
You are done here. Now proceed to Downloading and Installing Google Play for your Remix Operating System.
You will get a default android browser inside Remix OS. Use that browser and download this file called GSMInstaller.apk from here.
It is an Android Application and hence an apk file. Just after it finishes downloading, install it on your Android like a usual app.
Now Open the App. It will load this Screen:
Click on One Click to Install Google Services Button. It will start downloading them and will install automatically.
This will take a few minutes.
Note: It won’t show download confirmation. (At least, for me it did not show any download confirmation) Rather you will see the download getting stopped in the middle automatically. Treat that as the sign that your Google Play is installed.
To check if Google Play Store and Google Play Services has installed successfully on your device, click on the menu button at the bottom left. You can see their app icons. 🙂
To start Google Play, one more step is required. Yes, you guessed right. You need to Sign In.
After you complete sign in, you can use Google Play freely 🙂
Well, that’s all. Enjoy downloading Android Apps and Games on your computer using Remix OS.
Note: Remix OS is an Android Operating System and hence supports the installation of Android Apps. However, it may not be compatible with every app, especially games. Many games require special permissions that can be enabled only on a Mobile Platform.
Remember though it is an Android Operating System, the platform is PC, not a Mobile or Tablet.
So, don’t get sad if you favorite game does not support on Remix OS.
Hopefully, Remix OS will be getting frequent updates, and you can expect it to become more and more beautiful and feature rich.
That’s all. Thanks for reading our post on How to Install Google Play Store on Remix OS. Hope you have understood it correctly. Do share it with your friends on Facebook and help them grab it too. Sharing is Caring 😉
