Nokia had set their foot on the Android Smartphone Market with their low to mid range smartphones Nokia 5 and Nokia 6 that are competing with smartphones in the range of Rs15000. While Nokia 5 will go be available as an offline only mobile, Nokia 6 is going to be exclusively online. In fact, it is an Amazon Exclusive, so it will be going on sale on Amazon India, starting from 23rd August. The price is Rs14999.
We all realize that it is a big day for Nokia to start their journey as an Android smartphone after many years. HMD Global has taken in charge of Nokia and is responsible for developing the brand this time. So, it remains to be seen how it performs in the market.
Well, before I talk about my impressions, let’s check out the features of Nokia 6 at first.
Nokia 6 Features:
Nokia 6 is a 5.5inch device with an IPS LCD Screen. The back is metallic, with 2.5D Curved to get you a premium feeling when you hold it. You don’t get an amoled display with it. They are saying that you get a good Sunlight Readability with it.
The resolution is Full HD (1920 x 1080 p). There is a Corning Gorilla Glass 3 protection over it to help you survive accidental drops.
Coming to the CPU, it is powered by Snapdragon 430 1.4Ghz Octa Core Processor and Adreno 505 GPU. I love the fact that they chose Snapdragon in their device, unlike many other manufacturers who stick with Mediatek. But, to be honest, at the price of Rs14999, I would have expected at least the Snapdragon 650 or 625 at least.
Moving to the camera, the rear camera is a 16MP shooter with Phase detection autofocus and dual tone flash. The f/2 aperture will help you take good shots. The front camera is 8MP with an 84 degrees FOV. On the camera edge, this will deliver good shots.
It supports dual Nano Sim with VoLTE. There is an external SD Card support of up to 128GB. However, the SD Card uses the Sim 2 slot, meaning, it is a hybrid slot.
FM Radio is supported. Those who are wondering about headphone jack, a 3.5mm headphone jack is present. There is also Dolby Atmos support. 🙂
It runs on Android 7.1.1 Nougat. Nokia has promised to deliver software updates to this device on time. Let’s hope for the best.
On the battery edge, it is powered by a 3000mah battery. There is no news whether it supports any kind of fast charging or not. But, with the processor, I don’t think it will come with any sort of fast charging.

Nokia 6 First Impressions and Honest Opinions:
First things first, Nokia has a fan base who loves the brand. But, this time it is being manufactured by HMD Global, so a lot of changes have taken place both internally and externally. What is the actual outcome we can only know after it gets released.
But, keeping that brand value aside I am giving my honest opinions about it based on the spec sheet.
Firstly, coming to the processor, this device uses the Snapdragon 430. But at this price point, a more upgraded processor would have been better, like the Snapdragon 650 or 625 at least. This processor reminds me of Redmi 4 by Xiaomi, which is available at a price of just Rs6999.
The camera is good, the fingerprint sensor is front mounted, which I prefer. These days most of the manufacturers place fingerprint sensors on the back. Its a matter of convenience, but, I seem to prefer it in the front and use is while unlocking.
This device is also a victim of hybrid sim slot, whereas the Lenovo K8 Note has Dual Sim + Dedicated SD Card Slot.
Another thing, there is a 4GB+64GB Variant of this device, but it is not coming to India, at least not now. I don’t know why they chose to ignore that. Nokia fans would have surely preferred it.
Someone going by the spec sheet for choosing devices will stay away from this device for sure. At this price point you get much better options. However, those who love Nokia as a brand might consider it while switching to the Android Experience. I don't find anything too special in this device that you won't get in any other device. Camera is good, battery will last you the whole day. 3GB + 32 GB is fair for regular users, however, I personally would have preferred a higer ram variant, which is missing.
